June 28th- The End of The Revolution, and the people responsible

We thought they had finally done it!We thought the Arabs can overcome decades of humiliation and virtual servitude to corrupt and tyrannical dictatorships, whose purpose is nothing but to serve the interests and foreign policies of others who had used, abused and exploited, by filling the pockets of corrupt and brutal dictators. We were glued to the telly, watching with awe and amazement, the overwhelming and wonderful spectacle of Tahrir Square. They had achieved the seemingly impossible, by overcoming the purportedly impregnable instruments of tyranny and control, in pursuit of freedom and dignity. The Arabs, at last, began to inspire the world, and show us how its done. Unfortunately, just as spectacularly the revolution began, it would also come to an spectacular end resulting in perhaps one of the most tragic anti-climax moments in history, firmly burying all that happened Jan 2011.

Barely two years would pass before we see another dictatorship ascend in Egypt, which would have ramifications throughout the revolutions of the rest of the Arab world. This time the world watched with confusion and bewilderment. For many, such as myself, it became clear what was going on. It was a few, supported by external elements, who had taken advantage of the pervading mass- ignorance and confusion, and sowing the seeds of hate and antagonism, in order to return the old guards to the throne, with a new face. They had exploited the masses who were intoxicated with aimless revolutionary fervour clouding their most basic senses. Thus the coup of June 28th- which saw the ousting of the first freely democratically elected civilian President Mohammed Mursi.

As much as we would like to castigate Mursi for his incompetence, or the preposterous allegations of seeking to become a dictator, let us first examine some of the clowns in the opposition

Mahmoud Badr, leader of the Tamarrod movement, which supposedly collected 15 million signatures in their petition against Mursi organised the mass demonstration against Mursi followed by a coup. He previously played no prominent role in the Jan 25 revolution. He would later become the de facto Commander in Chief of the Baltagiyya (thugs) who would brutally torture and beat pro- Mursi supporters alongside other security forces, including attempts to mass assault women who happened to have found themselves isolated from the rest of the pro Mursi camp (a dangerous situation given the mass sexual offensive in Tahrir Square at the time). He would appear on state television on the very same spot of Presidents and state ministers, addressing the nation, in his silly T- Shirt- conjuring an ironic image of a so called youth revolutionary who prowls around the halls of power serving his new master, General Al Sisi- who can really do with a fresh puppy that does his bidding. Badr epitomises the rest of the secular youth whose middle-class, pathetic and meaningless existence (who has never won a single election or referendum, nor have they managed to further their agenda through any other democratic means) is based around exploiting the discontent of the populace, in order to achieve their empty political aims, and which often brings about chaos and destruction. Tamarrod’s Twitter activity reflected a sense of enlightened snobbery and aloofness which tried to portray Mursi supporters as bigots and uneducated, whilst at the same time making extraordinary claims such as Obama and Al Jazeera to be Muslim Brotherhood members. They also tweeted away pontificating that Muslims Brotherhood are not Muslims- an interesting take which is befitting of takfiris. One has to wonder why all of a sudden these secular youths sound like such observant Muslims, a religion which they secretly detest.  Such misconstrued logic is pervasive amongst the ‘enlightened’ middle- class secular camp in Egypt.

Then comes along the US’ darling and Nobel Laureate Mohammed El Beradai. Absent for years from Egypt due to his duties at the IAEA, he came into prominence as UN inspector for chemical weapons in Iraq, for which he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He didn’t participate in the Egyptian elections and would become the official leader of the National Salvation Front, a coalition of opposition parties- which happens to consist of former Mubarak era members. He and the NSF, in an opportunistic move, joined Tamarrod in overthrowing Mursi, and siding with Sisi, serving as his Vice President. In matter of days he would resign and flee Egypt in an act of sheer cowardice, after the massacre at Rabaa Adawiyyah, washing his hands off the deed. One has to ask what kind of statesman El Beradai would have been, when he clearly demonstrated such short-sightedness, and complete lack of political acumen? But still, he served his purpose in overthrowing a democratically elected Islamist President, and thats what matters and thats what Nobel Laureates do apparently- serve Western neo- liberal interests. His exile is a pathetic attempt at preserving his reputation as Nobel Peace Prize Winner, rather than a genuine concern for all the people that lost their lives. Nothing less could be expected by such self-interested Machiavellian opportunists. A normal human  being would be tormented by his/her conscience if he/she were in his shoes. He, of course, wouldnt be the first in pre-mature receipt of the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. Obama is just another example.

Then of course comes the boss, General Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the coup master. With a stroke of genius, he orchestrated the coup (perhaps with some outside help), by skillfully manipulating the masses through the use of mass media and the support of the opposition. In response, the ‘terrorists’ gathered en masse at Rabaa Adawiyya and staged peaceful sit in for over a month, until they were ‘cleansed’ by mass shootings in which “terrorists” as young as toddlers’ brains were splattered across the streets of Cairo.

As the secular ‘enlightened’ barbarians callously rejoice at the deaths of their fellow Egyptians at Rabaa and other anti- coup protests, let us ask how truly democratic the opposition is in light of their actions? The fact is they are not. They are driven by irrational phobia, and have given a new meaning to stupidity, heightening typical stereotypes about Arabs. In such an atmosphere, common sense can’t prevail let alone reason. Their morbid psych, dead conscience, twisted logic and conspicuous moral hypocrisy is a dangerous recipe for intolerance and repression. The revolution has been soundly defeated.
